Then I healed all that shit and gave myself the space to never abandon myself again!

I used to get attached in love so fast.

Now I realize it's because I experienced emotional neglect and abandoned in childhood and didn't know how to love myself.

The moment someone showed me love, I wanted to hold on and never let them go. I called it obsession but it was really fear of abandonment and rejection.

Then I started healing and loving myself and I went to the other extreme.

I protected my healing path obsessively, scared of losing myself again. I pushed people away and I set boundaries that kept my heart protected.

Neither makes space for real, healthy love.

I had to learn how to trust myself and be ok if they left.

It teaches you to abandon yourself, makes you feel unworthy of protection and makes you think that maybe you deserved it.

For years, I thought, "I should've never been a mother"

I resented the role: the demands, the availability required, the rules, the discipline, the feeling of "being just a mom", and everything sitting on my shoulders.

In the mom role, I was blind to their hummanness.

It was a job and a responsibility I had to carry out

I adopted the, "I'm the adult and you're the child" mindset.

I hated every minute of it

So I took the hat off

My mind shift is unconventional
Controversial
Misunderstood

But I don't care

Since I changed how I parent, I am better for it. For them.

I don't discipline anymore. I don't have to.

Respect is mutual
Boundaries are mutual
Communication is mutual
Privacy is mutual
Understanding is mutual
Compassion is mutual
Support is mutual
Acceptance of our differences is mutual

We are not better or less than one another

We're humans navigating life, learning and growing side by side

Motherhood doesn't have to be hard, relentless, scary, or stressful

I've learned that kids just want love, support, understanding, space, freedom to make mistakes

As their human guide, I remember what it was like to grow up although my parents were narcissistic and authoritarian

My girls and I are the closest we've ever been, even when we disagree, or set boundaries, or need space

Creativity saved me 7 years ago

Then I worked a full time & part time job and didn't have time or energy

Creating and pouring myself into something that doesn't exist yet and allowing myself to do it my way makes me feel empowered

In the past I struggled with the shoulds and rules of society and then I asked myself, "where the f*ck do these rules even come from???"

When people ask, "why did u do it like that?

I have two answers:

"Because I wanted to"
"Because that's what my body wanted"

Nothing is a mistake when I create

When you create that safe space for yourself, trust yourself and accept all of yourself, the noise isn't so loud anymore.

The only voice you hear is your own

You're not as stuck as you think

Self-awareness can sometimes keep you stuck in your head where you overcontextualize what you should be feeling.

There needs to be a balance, a relationship between your mind, body and heart.

Self-awareness is a tool in understanding yourself but when you get stuck on understanding, your body doesn't get to feel through things and your heart gets confused.

Your body says, I need to feel this to then release it and your mind says, nvm feeling it!

We don't need to feel what we already understand."

Our feelings are messengers and self-awareness allows us to listen and navigate the feelings in a healthy way.

As someone who has suffered at the hands of others, I don't hold resentment, anger, or wishes for their own suffering.

People who harm others are already suffering and have been victims too.

As a victim, I chose to forgive and heal my wounds as to not hurt others.

They deserve the same chance.

I wish the ones who have caused me pain, healing and inner peace, so that the suffering can stop with me and they can break the cycle.

If you're still holding onto hate, don't you hope they heal so that nobody else has to suffer the way you have?

I thought I was a lost cause

I didn't understand trauma, conditioning, childhood trauma, trauma responses, etc.

The only language I had was "depression", "anxiety", "abuse".

I learned by shifting my focus to myself.

I researched, focused what I could control, and set boundaries to anything that wasn't for me.

Reparenting my inner child was a big part of my healing. I got to know her, we explored, we laughed, cried, faced our fears, and stood up for ourselves.

Every choice we made towards recovery, empowerment, self-awareness, and alignment empowered us little by little.

Everything we did for ourselves shifted how we view and handle the world outside.

Where I once wished pain on my abusers, I wish them healing because then it means the cycle stops with me.
